Discussing the Project and Questionnaire

To get started, a Project Questionnaire is emailed to the client.  The questionnaire allows me to get a good sense of project scope and size.  As soon as I receive the completed questionnaire, I will schedule a phone meeting to discuss the project details and the client's goals.

Investment and Getting Started

New clients receive a Client Welcome Packet.  This document outlines our work relationship, requested samples, draft timelines, policies, and FAQs. The packet is yours to keep and provides valuable information at your fingertips.

Your investment in the project is important to your business. Since I provide above-board service, a legal agreement is emailed to the client.  The agreement spells out the specifics of the work I provide, deadlines, and terms of payment.  The signed agreement and a 50% deposit of the total project fee are required before I begin working on the project.


I perform comprehensive research involving a list of responsibilities that include but are not limited to the following:

  • a thorough review your website
  • request for samples and marketing materials from your team
  • learn about your competitors and set your brand apart from theirs
  • schedule phone or in-person meetings with your sales and marketing departments

Additional written content or marketing strategies may be recommended to give your business the competitive edge it deserves.

Review of First Draft and Subsequent Revision

During the writing process, some clients prefer to maintain regular contact.  Other clients favour infrequent communication. Everyone has a preferred approach when working with a copywriter. Please let me know the frequency of communication you would like to have.

The size and scope of each project differ from one client to another.  A swift turnaround time is assured without compromising the quality of the copy.  I pride myself on giving clients professional writing and exceptional customer service.

The first draft and two more revisions are included in the quoted project fee.  You won't see the first draft until it passes my strict "McLaren seal of approval".

Once the first draft is completed and submitted, clients may provide notes or request verbal changes. I work with my clients through each draft to ensure they're satisfied with the copy.

Final Approval

Upon final approval, an invoice for the remaining 50% of the project investment is sent to the client. Final payment is due upon receipt of the invoice.
